How to specify custom patches for production.
Embroidered patches are the workhorse — thread stitched onto a twill backing, with 50% coverage (logo visible on twill) or 100% coverage (no backing shows). Woven patches use thinner threads on a loom, so they resolve much finer detail and small text that embroidery would blur.
For outdoor and tactical gear we recommend PVC rubber patches: waterproof, UV-stable, dishwasher-tough, and capable of crisp 2D/3D molded detail. Dye-sublimated patches give photographic full-color for gradients and complex artwork that thread can’t reproduce.
Pick your backing to match the use: iron-on for one-time application, hook-and-loop velcro for swappable morale patches on tactical gear, or sew-on for jackets and bags that get heavy laundering. Free digitizing and a sewn-out sample before bulk.
